Please Stand by Your Beelog

Ok, here's the thing. My employer (well, really the client site where I reside during the day) is on to us. We're totally busted. They've blocked blogs and all things blogger at the office. Which makes it difficult for me to, well, to blog. Suh, uh, uh, uh, ucks.

While I welcome any suggestions and/or work arounds, for now you're likely going to get a few bits and scraps here and there while I adjust to the blogging-from-home idea. I've got a few things in the hopper, so please bear with. I even wrote things down to encourage their rememberinating.

Well aren't you the security specialist? Tell them how it's a risk to a national security to Not have blogger.

While my office blocks a ton of websites, I can still read blogs at work, at least for the time being. But for various reasons (security concerns, formatting problems, etc.), I don't want to post from there.

So, on the rare occasion that I have a real idea at work (or even more rarely, multiple ideas!), I keep a running draft email, and then I send it to myself. So it's almost like the blog has written itself by the time I get home, and all I have to do is hit "publish post."

Not the best solution, but it works.

This may not help much, but you can usually read blogs through Google reader (www.google.com/reader).

for blogger, it's quite easy to post w/out being on blogger. if you look under settings, then email, look at the "mail-to-blog address", then you can email to that email address and it will allow you to post what's in the email remotely. I do it every once in a while...it's quite fun!

The only drawbacks are that you can't send it from an email address that automatically adds a footer (i.e. yahoo) and i've not gotten pics to work .. unless they are an html link to a pic

Yeah, like scott says, you can do posts via email and phone these days. (With Livejournal, pictures DO work.)

It's funny, I can read most blogs and then certain ones are blocked. It makes absolutely no sense. But if all blogs were blocked at work my would definitely die, I just can't bring myself to blog at home, I have TVs there.

Can send photos to a blogger blog via mobile phone quite easily--it's fun too! Too bad phone pics are so crappy.
