The Fast Lane Is Dead. Long Live Complete Chaos!

They say that the polar ice caps are melting at about a rate of 3 inches per year, which is about the same rate that tectonic plates are dragging California into the Pacific, but did you know that every year, New York is getting 2-3 hours further away from DC? That's right! It's a fact! Science doesn't lie!

Some 10 years ago, a drive from DC to NY on an otherwise unspectacular Friday afternoon would take approximately 4 hours. Today, studies show, it will likely take you an average of 8 hours. Science might not lie, but it's address book could use a little updating; seems I missed the memo regarding the official dissolution of the "pass on the left" rule of the road.

now see you have it all wrong. The drive from NJ to MD is 2 times as long as the drive from MD to NJ. Or so I've been told. My family has scientific proof of that! So there!

the the passing on the left died when they decided to make left lane exits. ;)

oh jesus! the 'left hand lane' drivers. GET THE F OUTTA THE WAY!!!! They aren't passing anyone! and they speed up when you try to pass on the right.......twice!

hmm Interesting... What exit In Jersey did you go to? 10, 13 if you multiply each exit by 40 minutes or so it should give you the right travel time through NJ...

But if it rains increase the DC travel time 6 fold and add 17 minutes per exit in NJ..

If you need to get on the Varrazano Narrows Bridge or go through any part of Staten Island of course add 36 minutes for every mile you travel while there..
